Characterization of weak fixed point property for new class of set-valued nonexpansive mappings
In this paper, we introduce a new class of set-valued mappings which is called MD-type mappings. This class of mappings is a set-valued case of a class of the D-type mappings. The class of D-type mappings is a generalization of nonexpansive mappings that recently introduced by Kaewkhao and Sokhuma. The class of MD-type mappings includes upper semi-continuous Suzuki type mappings, upper semi-con...
متن کاملGeometric Condizions Sufficient for the Weak and Weak Fixed Point Property Brailey Sims
We look for geometric structures which underlie both the 'classical' geometric and more modern 'order theoretic' conditions for a Banach space (dual space) to have the weak (weak*) fixed point property; that is, for every nonexpansive self-mapping of a nonempty weak (weak*) compact convex subset to have a fixed point.
متن کامل1 Every Nonreflexive Subspace of L 1 [ 0 , 1 ] Fails the Fixed Point Property
The main result of this paper is that every non-reflexive subspace Y of L 1 [0, 1] fails the fixed point property for closed, bounded, convex subsets C of Y and nonexpansive (or contractive) mappings on C. Combined with a theorem of Maurey we get that for subspaces Y of L 1 [0, 1], Y is reflexive if and only if Y has the fixed point property. For general Banach spaces the question as to whether...
متن کاملEvery Countable Group Has the Weak Rohlin Property
We present a simple proof of the fact that every countable group Γ is weak Rohlin, that is, there is in the Polish space AΓ of measure preserving Γ-actions an action T whose orbit in AΓ under conjugations is dense. In conjunction with earlier results this in turn yields a new characterization of non-Kazhdan groups as those groups which admit such an action T which is also ergodic.
متن کاملThe Complexity of the Fixed Point Property
It is NP-complete to determine whether a given ordered set has a fixed point free orderpreserving self-map. On the way to this result, we establish the NP-completeness of a related problem: Given ordered sets P and Q with t-tuples (PI,. ,pt) and (41,. . , qt) from P and Q respectively, is there an order-preserving map f: P + Q satisfying f(pz) > qr for each i = l,...,t? Mathematics Subject Clas...
